Short version: we hold your email address so we can tell you when True Loathe opens. Nothing else. No analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and nothing sold or shared. Ask us to delete it and we will.
Who is responsible
True Loathe is operated by Josh Speer, who is the data controller for everything described here. Use the contact form, or write to the address at the foot of this page.
What we collect
Only what you type in, and only on two forms.
- Waitlist: your email address, the language your browser asked for, and the time you signed up.
- Contact form: your email address, your message, the language your browser asked for, and the time you sent it.
We do not run analytics, advertising, session recording or fingerprinting. The page loads no scripts, fonts or images from anyone else, so no third party learns you visited. We do not collect your IP address or build a profile of you.
Why, and on what legal basis
To email you once, when the service opens. The basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — you gave it by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your address.
To read and answer your message. The basis is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in replying to someone who wrote to us, or your consent where you wrote to exercise a data right.
How long we keep it
Waitlist addresses are held until the service opens and the launch email has gone out, then deleted within thirty days — or immediately, whenever you ask. If the project is abandoned we delete the list. Contact messages are kept for up to twelve months so we can follow up, except where we have to retain correspondence to show we answered a data-rights request.
Who else sees it
Our database is hosted by Supabase, who process it on our instructions and nothing more. Nobody else receives it. We do not sell, rent, share or trade it, and we will not — there is no version of this product that is paid for with your data.
Your rights
You can ask us to do any of the following, and we will answer within one month:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct it if it is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Stop using it while a dispute is sorted out.
- Send it to you in a machine-readable form.
- Stop processing it where our basis is legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent, which is as easy to do as it was to give.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU it is the supervisory authority where you live.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. There is nothing to consent to, which is why there is no banner asking you to. If that ever changes we will ask first, and declining will be exactly as easy as agreeing.
Age
True Loathe is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly hold data about children. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this notice changes materially before launch, the version you agreed to still governs the data you gave us — we will ask again rather than assume.
Contact
Use the contact form, or write to privacy@trueloathe.com. Say what you want and we will do it.
This notice is written in English. If it is ever translated and the versions disagree, the English text is the one that governs.
